09:45 am - Backlogged Journal Entry - Locked to Severus
Preparations are nearly finished. Mister Malfoy has been very helpful in coordinating the last bits of the ceremony, and I have to say I'm rather impressed. I've even managed to loop together a few summoning talismans so that the ghosts may attend (they've been rooted to the house so long, though, that father was rather hesitant at the end of the day to consent, but they'll be there, and with all hope be gone completely by the time we're back from Amsterdam). And I am looking forward to that last part. Amsterdam. When all of this maddness will be over and I can spend a few weeks just with you. I've made the necessary preparations on my part -- Minerva has said she will be happy to look after Ludo and Pablo, and I hope you've arranged with your employees to take care of the shop.

I really do hate the timing on this, because I know you've been troubled of late. But it will be good to finally have time to relax, no?

Out of the blue, Heinrich sends me an owl. Expressing his fake congratulations and admiration. Asking that I reconsider -- and then he mentions Severus' dealings during the war. And the Order of the Phoenix -- something he failed to elaborate upon even when I asked. Said he would only speak to me about it in person.

I refused, naturally. Severus would be furious if he knew I even replied.

I know Severus told me he'd worked both sides in the war. But nothing of any society called the Order of the Phoenix.

...I know what he's doing. He just wants to shake me up a bit. But it's not going to work.

No more letters, though.

No more.

...Graduation could not come soon enough. Nor the week after it.

Well -- that was rather unpleasant. Just a note to students: I realize that it's the end of the year and all manner of tomfoolery is to be expected, but the next person that attempts any such nonsense in MY office will be looking at a visit to the Headmaster's office.

A dissertation of mine will be published in Wizard Historian. I'm still a little shocked; I received word this morning and it's all a bit overwhelming.

When I wasn't finishing grading papers this weekend, I was back in the flat finishing the reupholstering on that damned chaise I rescued from Spinners End. I got the last of it when I returned home today, after I helped a little down in the shop.

Damn, but it's comfortable. I changed my mind at the last minute and changed the color of the fabric, now. Maroon with a few splashes of gold in the embroidery was just too lovely to pass up. So now it's pretty and comfortable. I could fall asleep right now, actually.

What I decided to do, however, was curl up with my laptop and a copy of the Prophet. The front page news is all the same. Greyback still at large. What was on page four was what caught my attention (and they stuffed it far enough in the back). I've seen a few students comment on it thus far, but an entire village whiped out?

Locked to Professors and Severus

I almost want to ask what kind of vampire in their right mind would do such a thing, but it's obvious that isn't the case, here. After what happened here in the shop, though, I can't help but wonder if there isn't a connection, because even that was a bizarre occurrence.

I fell asleep at work -- at my desk, no less. Brilliant.

[Private] It took me an hour to get the key marks off of my cheek. A simple spell took care of my hair sticking up, thank God... I see Severus' entry has disappeared, so I think that means he finally woke up and realized he'd forgotten to lock his post again. I haven't heard from him though -- I'll apologize for not being there this morning later; I really did not mean for that to happen.[/Private]

Anyhow, I think I finally have all those papers graded. I'm sufficiently pleased at what's been turned in. The students appear to be taking a much more vested interest in the subject matter, because instead of regurgitating the textbook back at me they're actually saying what they think about the material. I couldn't be more proud.

I really must be losing my mind.

I left for a run shortly after dinner with Severus, and now that I think of it I probably shouldn't have brought up the wedding. He always gets all dodgy and impossible to deal with when I do. Doesn't even try, just makes excuses. Anyhow, I left my laptop in my office here at the school, and a short run eventually turned into a nighttime jaunt back up to the castle to work on a few more papers.

And then I saw that entry, which he forgot to lock. I almost want to tell that man to take his stupid fag business and stuff it. Doesn't seem fair, does it? One would think that the promise you make first should come first, but that damned expansion conveniently takes up all of his time anyway. He doesn't even have to worry about it if he's too busy. And if it really bothered him all that much, he would change it. Cut back. Hire someone new.

I know I'm being unreasonable; I must be. And I don't know what it is I want, exactly, other than a ring on my finger, other than to be married. But I don't want him to treat it as some burden that needs to be gotten over with so we can put it behind us.

I just wish he'd show as much bloody enthusiasm for us as he does for those fucking cigarettes!

Students will be either very happy or horrified to know that I'm hosting this year's Halloween Dance once again. But because I'm such a disinterested caring soul, I'd like to see if any students might like to involve themselves in the preparations this year.

Locked Against Staff and Students, save Minerva

I realize I haven't the right to complain considering I passed the job up, but I am finding myself feeling seriously concerned, regarding our new Defense Professor. She's too --

"Cautious" is the only word I can think of that comes anywhere close, but it's a bit worse than that, and I think those of you that have met her would agree. Minerva, she's positively nutters. I caught her taking 'samples', she says, outside of my office the other night. Whilst decked from head to toe in more protective gear than should be healthy, no less. "In case of infection," my arse.

The only thing she's going to teach the children, Minerva, is to be afraid of everything.

How she even came to accept the job considering the "curse" on it is completely beyond me. She's afraid of doorknobs, for merlin's sake!

One may have noticed I have not updated in quite some time. Reason being, I haven't had time to get to my laptop, and it hasn't been for any pleasant reason, either. The Ministry just today closed its investigations on the property that I co-own in Hogsmeade, where, I was displeased to discover, there'd been a vampire residing prior to purchasing the property. Bastard got the drop on us too, quite literally.

And true to form, the Ministry took longer cleaning up the mess than they should have. We've only finished with them this quickly because Severus threatened to press charges.

And school starts in a week?

I need a vacation already.

Locked to Friends

I didn't realize how many students I still had on my 'Friends List' in this. It's nice to see everyone is still using these things (and strange that we all rediscovered the journals at about the same time, no?)

Well, I'm seeing the reprocussions to how I left my job at the Ministry. I don't think I'll be recieving any pay for the last week I was there -- which is all just as well. I didn't exactly make my exit terribly graceful. Not that I haven't been busy without a job to go to. More about that later, though.

So I've noticed Mister Malfoy and Miss Parkinson are active again -- not so much from others. I'm sure there are others, though -- that's the joy of privacy settings. I'm curious to know how everyone is settling post-war, if you don't mind saying so. To many of you, I am no longer one of your teachers, so if it's not by business, by all means don't reply.

To those that do not know, I will be returning to Hogwarts in the fall to teach History of Magic, as opposed to Defense. It's something I'm rather looking forward to, but as I understand it, not many students are terribly fond of taking History. I hope to change that. I feel strangely optimistic about returning to the school, though there have been many changes that I will have to grow accustomed to.

My first online journal entry in months -- imagine. I haven't really bothered with this since I left the school, but I'd like to see if anyone else is doing it, too.

To catch up -- I've been working (and I use the term loosely) in the Ministry since leaving Hogwarts. First as a consultant during the war, and now it seems I've been demoted to lowly secretary. Hate it. Probably always will. Desk jobs do not suit me. To every cloud, there is a silver lining, however. I've been offered a position at the newly reopening Hogwarts again, and while I never would have thought I'd jump at the chance to teach children again, I would like to. Better still, I'll be teaching History this time.

Ludo's gotten big. See for yourself )

Adorable, no?

More snow. It never goes away, I tell you. I woke up freezing this morning. (And I really need to put some money into a pair of slippers or something, because the stone floor is a rather rude awakening at sunrise).

Ludo met Mrs. Norris last night; got out of the room, and Argus Filch happened to be mopping in the hall close by. I was drawn out by the sound of hissing and yowling, to which Ludo did his very best to stand up to. He's not terribly large, yet, so Mrs. Norris had quite the unfair advantage. She got in a few good swats before I could scoop him up. I'd best be more careful with how tightly I close doors from now on.

Now, to business.

First and Second Years: Remember to bring your notes to class. Wands will be mandatory this week.

Third years: You have a test this week; please don't forget to study.

Fifth years: Your OWL practice exams are this week.

Sixth year NEWT students: We'll begin discussions for your oral presentations, so be thinking of who you want to partner up with, and what your topic may be.

Seventh Years: Your proposals for your independant study projects are due this week.

Dueling Club will be held on Thursday this week.

03:12 pm - Locked to Staff
Well, some misfortune with a bit of good luck yesterday. Most of you know I've taken a pet, a kitten. Others might also know that the silly thing tends to cry whenever I leave him alone. Well, problem solved.

In a sense.

I was in a hurry this morning and apparrently didn't shut the door to my office as securely as I should have. Of course, I had no idea of this until first our, which was all second years. About ten minutes into the lecture, I was a little puzzled not to hear the usual mewling from my office, but I assumed Ludo went to sleep on my chair again (something I have to keep an eye open for; I almost sat on him the other day). Not so. Did not realize this until some random hufflepuff girl pointed and squealed "KITTY!"

Ludo came out into the classroom at some point, but seeing me and apparrently satisfied to know I was within reach, he curled up and fell asleep on the steps.

I didn't put him back in the room, and he didn't make a peep during any of my lessons, though by the time sixth years were in, he'd wandered back into the office to have a nibble and didn't come out once; however, when he was finished, he decided to announce that, which was yet another unnecessary interruption. No trouble, I suppose. It didn't go on as long as the crying.

Severus surprised me with a late Christmas present. A kitten. I really don't know what to think. I had the impression that he swore off all expressions that could be considered stereotypical to an adult relationship, sex and obligatory weekly dates excluded of course. I could have sworn chocolates and fluffy things were on the "no" list, though. Not that I'm complaining. He's adorable, if not a bit needy (he's holding a conversation with me as I am typing this; I've had to keep him off the laptop). I've decided to call him Ludo; not sure why.

He's going to be huge when he grows up. I already know that. Severus has been making a point to show how much he dislikes him (he dozed off last night and apparrently Ludo wouldn't leave him alone). Maine Coons are known to be very attentive, on top of talkative. If he perserveres he'll likely either get killed or win Severus over, and I honestly don't know which will happen first. He wasn't cheap, so I'm betting on the latter.

Ludo made a bit of a fuss during classes today; I doubt there was a single student that didn't hear him in the office. Silly thing needed attention right that second, and it came up every hour at the start of my lecture without fail. I made a point to ignore it for the time being. I won't be letting him out into the classroom until he's a mite bigger.
